PORTLAND, Ore. – After earning a 2-1 victory over Swope Park Rangers in the club’s first-ever match in Idaho, T2 return home to face USL expansion side San Antonio FC at Merlo Field on the campus of the University of Portland on Saturday, June 11; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific).
The match on Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between the two clubs and the lone game against one another in 2016. Portland has won four of its last five home games heading into Saturday’s match against San Antonio, two of which were shutout victories. In their last match at Merlo Field, T2 defeated Western Conference rival Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 on April 17.
T2 (5-6-1, 16pts) enter this week’s contest looking to build off their 2-1 win over Swope Park on June 4 at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho. In front of a sold-out crowd of 4,352 fans, midfielders Neco Brett and Victor Arboleda both tallied goals, while T2 recorded consecutive wins for the first time this season. Brett, who was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 11, notched his fourth goal in the last five matches.
After falling 1-0 to Rio Grande Valley FC on June 4, San Antonio FC (2-5-4, 10pts) venture into Saturday’s match with only one win in their last seven games. Forward Jason Johnson, who last scored in the club’s 3-1 win against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on April 30, leads the team in points with three goals. Forward Shawn Chin has recorded two goals and one assist and midfielder Daniel Garcia has recorded two goals so far in 2016.
Single-game tickets for T2 matches are available at the Providence Park box office, online at www.timbers2.com, and on game day at the venue box office. Additionally, Saturday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
Next week, T2 will host Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Providence Park on Tuesday, June 14; kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific).
