With the Portland Timbers in the midst of a three-goal second-half comeback 4-2 win Saturday night against the Houston Dynamo, it was midfielder Darlington Nagbe who provided the assist on the game-winning goal for David Guzmán. The pair were combining to provide pressure on the Dynamo backline before Guzmán brought down a loose ball to Nagbe who then spun and fed back to Guzmán on the run in the box. Guzmán rounded the Houston 'keeper and scored.
Though Opta originally did not credit Nagbe with an assist, on Monday, they officially updated the stat to reflect the play.
The move was tabbed by MLSsoccer.com Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle as the MLS Assist of the Week. It was Nagbe's second assist on the year and second MLS Assist of the Week.
