The Portland Timbers took home all three points Saturday to move into first place in the Western Conference as the club defeated New York City FC, 1-0, at Yankee Stadium. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.

7 Midfielder Diego Valeri scored for a seventh straight match, tying the MLS record for most consecutive games with a goal. The Argentine maestro is the first MLS player in 11 seasons to accomplish the feat and just the fourth player ever.

0 NYCFC came into the match having scored the second-most goals in MLS, but Portland's defense held firm, allowing just three shots on target and finishing with a clean sheet. It was the first time since May 2016 that NYCFC had been shut out at home.

8The Timbers pestered their opponent's goal all match, finishing with eight shots on target, tying for their second-highest total this season. Valeri led the way, tying a Timbers MLS record with five shots on target in a single match.
