Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson- on loan to Timbers 2 - was named to the USL Team of the Week Bench for Week 9 after recording his first professional goal, a stoppage-time winner, in a 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders 2 FC at Cheney Stadium on May 12.
T2 scored the game-winning goal, the latest in the team’s four-year history, in the 92nd minute, starting with a goal kick from goalkeeper Alex Mangels, who registered his first shutout of 2018, that fell to midfielder Victor Arboleda down the left wing. Heading the ball past his defender, Arboleda delivered a cross into the middle of the six-yard box that Williamson volleyed into the back of the net to give T2 the full three points on the road. The assist was Arboleda’s first of the USL season.
Next up, Portland returns home to play host to LA Galaxy II at Providence Park on Friday, May 18, for a Providence Health & Fitness Day beginning at 11 a.m. (Pacific). Tickets, starting at $10, are available for purchase online or the Providence Park box office.
