GIRLS OF THE GAME
Following the Thorns’ postgame walk around the pitch recognizing the crowd, our “Girls of the Game” present bouquets of roses to each of the players that score goals and our keeper when she records a shutout. These inspiring “Girls of the Game” are young women who are selected by our Stand Together partners for their outstanding work and dedication to the organization.
GIRL STRONG CLINIC
Stand Together hosts the “Girl Strong” clinic at Providence Park to encourage young women to lead healthy lives and be positive role models in their community. The girls are treated to a day of empowerment, play on the pitch, a tour of the Providence Sports Care Center and very special meet and greet's with some of their favorite Thorns players. Watch the 2017 recap.
ROSE CITY READERS
“Rose City Readers”, presented by Unitus Community Credit Union, magnifies the importance of children reading at their grade level and furthering their education. Studies show students who read by third grade are four times more likely to graduate on time, succeed in college and careers, and contribute to society. Because of this, Timber Joey and our players are dedicated to visiting schools in our community and motivating students to read.
SCIENCE OF SOCCER
This exclusive Stand Together x OMSI collaboration teaches a select number of “soccer scientists” how to break down the game of soccer through the lenses of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students learn by engaging in science experiments, problem solving, informational field trips and exchanging ideas. Watch 2017 recap.
