Rose City Readers
Rose City Readers harnesses the power of sport to magnify the importance of literacy and motivate students at local schools.
Led by club mascot Timber Joey, the program features Joey’s own personal story of being unable to read at a young age. Rose City Readers provides both assembly and individual classroom programming for K-3 students and often includes a visit from a Timbers player.
Since 2014, Rose City Readers visits on average 25 schools per year, reaching 2,600 local youth. To help level the playing field, Stand Together prioritizes schools with reportedly low reading test scores.
