Thorns ECNL

The Portland Thorns Academy players in the U13-U19 level play in the ECNL. They play up to 20 games against teams in the ECNL Northwest Conference.

Player Identification

In addition to League Games, teams will participate in select ECNL National Events, based on their age group. The National Events will draw college and national team coaches/scouts, increasing the opportunities for players to be identified for National Camps and College Scholarship offers.

Services & Support

  • College resource and preparation program
  • Videotaping of all league and national event matches
  • Video analysis access
  • Game film and video review sessions
  • Individual development plans and evaluations
  • Recommendations to and scouting by U.S. Youth National Team scouts and college coaches
  • Regular attendance of college coaches to high school age teams at games and national events
  • Training up to 3x per week at Providence Park

Thorns Pre-ECNL

Launched in the 2020/2021 season, the Portland Thorns Academy Pre-ECNL – part of the Portland Thorns Academy Program – initially served U-11 & U-12 players. In 2024, it expands to include a U-10 team for the 2024/2025 season, offering year-round development and training for players aiming to join the Portland Thorns Academy ECNL teams.

U-10 Program Highlights

  • Summer months will consist of team training and local tournaments
  • Fall OYSA league with games on Sunday and team training 2x per week
  • Spring OYSA league with games on Sunday and team training 2x per week
