USLSoccer.com, in conjunction with the staff at TopDrawerSoccer.com, continue their second-annual 20 Under 20 list to highlight the top young players that have competed in the USL this season.
Coming in at No. 6 is Timbers midfielder Victor Arboleda. The fleet-footed Colombian made his MLS debut on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium on May 6. Arboleda has appeared in four matches for the Timbers this season. In nine appearances (8 starts) for T2 this season, Arboleda ranks second on the team with three goals and has recorded one assist. The 20-year-old was named No. 20 on the 2016 version of the 20 Under 20 rankings.
TopDrawerSoccer.com Scouting Report
It's no shock to see Arboleda retain his spot on the top 20 Under 20 list, given the electric abilities that he's shown on the field. There was little surprise when the Timbers added him to their MLS roster ahead of the 2017 season, as he's a good fit for a wide attacking role.
Coming in at No. 7 is Timbers defender Marco Farfan. A native of Portland, Farfan became the first product of the Timbers Academy program to sign a Homegrown Player contract with the MLS club. Farfan has appeared in six matches (5 starts) for the Timbers this season, and made the MLS Team of the Week for Week 5. In five appearances (5 starts) for T2 this season, Farfan has recorded two assists. The 18-year-old defender was named No. 7 on the 2016 edition of the 20 Under 20 rankings, serving as the only academy player to be named on the list.
TopDrawerSoccer.com Scouting Report
Exciting, young outside backs are somewhat hard to come by in American soccer, and those traits are what Farfan's shown during his brief stint in MLS and after making an extended impression in the USL with T2.
Head over to USLSoccer.com to see No. 10-6 and keep an eye out as they continue their countdown in the coming days.
