PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing their first game of a two-match road trip, T2 travel to play Cascadia-rival Whitecaps FC 2 at Thunderbird Stadium on Sunday, June 19; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).
The match on Sunday marks the third of four games between the two clubs in 2016, as both teams are set to meet again Sunday, Sept. 18 at Thunderbird Stadium. In their first two matchups of the season, T2 sustained a 3-1 loss at Merlo Field on the campus of the University of Portland on April 2 and a 3-1 loss at Providence Park on May 20.
With only one loss in their last four matches, T2 (5-7-2, 17pts) enter this week’s contest looking to rebound from their 2-1 defeat to Seattle Sounders FC 2 on June 14 at Providence Park. Forward Blake Bodily tallied his first career goal for Portland in his second start of the season. With Bodily’s finish, nine different players have scored for T2 in 2016, with Victor Arboleda, Nick Besler, Villyan Bijev, Neco Brett, Kharlton Belmar, Dylan Damraoui, Andre Lewis and Ben Polk each recording goals through 14 games.
After defeating Swope Park Rangers 3-2 on June 12, Whitecaps FC 2 (7-2-4, 25pts) venture into Sunday’s match with only one win in their last five matches. Forward Kyle Greig, who last tallied in a 3-2 loss to Seattle Sounders FC 2 on June 9, ranks tied for second in USL with 10 goals on the season. Forward Daniel Haber has recorded three goals and two assists, while midfielder Brett Levis has tallied two goals and two assists in 2016.
